Where have we been?
Where in the heck have we been? I have been lax, lax , lax about our blog. Mostly because we haven't been doing anything really newsworthy
...otherwise we would have shared it!
After returning from DGar, I was back to work as usual. Justin started to work part time for the local swim team. I went to Atsugi for a week (nearby air base) to sub for a doc who's been deployed from there (Yokosuka is back-filling them)...Justin was busy with the Boy Scouts and a Distinguished eagle scout award being given to Adm Kelly. As our lives got back to normal when I returned home and his event was over, we were laying low for a couple of weeks.
Bought a new couch (being delivered tomorrow!), had a couple of parties at our house (game night and a pasta feed!), and tapered for the Tokyo marathon, which we ran this last weekend. I had been sidelined by a tendonitis for a few weeks and a recent cold and laryngitis!. Justin trained like a champ and was a lean mean running machine...we both finished with pride but not with any particularly impressive times. Oh well, it was a nice race and a fun experience with our friends. Check in that box.
I was supposed to go to VA for a preventive medicine conference -- I was looking forward to it, including the opportunity to shop, do some hot yoga, go to Trader Joe's, etc. But then a FedEx plane crashed at Narita and as a result, my flight was cancelled. Next flight would have left me with a little more than 2 days in the States. Silly to kill myself to get there, especially since I'm now JUST feeling a little bit better and STILL have laryngitis.
So that's why the blog has lagged. April brings cherry blossoms, a trip to Kyoto and a visit from family (auntie Deb and uncle Pete). I might be going to HOng Kong in June for a conference I got in to. But we'll see...
For now, we are happy to be mellow...welcome home to our friend Dustin Wallace, who's been at sea with the Blue Ridge. Happy to be motoring along without too much drama. Happy to be happy together.
(okay that was sappy)
More to come...
Should have pictures from Justin's ski trip up soon!
